Keep Your Child Safe by Child-Proofing Your Home
Babies are growing very fast and by the time they start moving around, you as the parent you will be too busy chasing them around, and you will not have any time to even think of child-proofing your home for their safety. It is vital that you do it in advance so that you do not get caught up. Analyze your home from your baby’s viewpoint before you start the Child-Proofing process.
Child-Proofing your home helps you to be a bit calm any time you cannot see your baby around as you do not know exactly what they are doing and if they are safe. There are some few important measures that you can undertake so that you can be well prepared when this time comes. You can start by Child-Proofing your bathroom. Some of the precautions is to ensure that the water is not too deep nor too hot for the baby at least not deeper than your baby’s legs before they start walking on their own and start getting inside the bath tubes. As the baby starts to walk on their own and unsupervised, you can install the safety features like the non-slip mats to prevent the kids from slipping and falling in the bathtub and injuring themselves.
Keep all the unsafe items out of your child’s reach. As the kids start walking and crawling they pick anything that they can put their little hands around and put in the mouth and so you have to be careful about what you put at the kids reach. Keep medicine away, toxic substances, mothballs and the toiletries away from your kids. All the items that can fall on your baby should be put down. Examples include if you are using an ironing board, fold it and keep it away from the baby so that they will not pull it and then fall on them, do not keep anything that can fall on your baby after pulling it at a close range.
All the cords and wires in your home have to be hidden away from your kids. Hide these wires where your kids cannot be able to pull them, keep all the extension cables and the adapter plugs away when you are not utilizing them. The locks and catches can be put everywhere starting from the cupboard doors, washing machines and everywhere where your kids can open and explore so that you can protect them.
Child-proof your home by watching out for your house windows, the window locks are important and worth having so that you can stop the burglars. As the kids grow older, they will learn to climb, and if the windows are not well secured and the kids find it easier to open, they can open and crawl out of the window and then from hearing only God knows what can happen next.
